CMAT had her Saturday Night Live UK moment. The Irish singer-songwriter was the musical guest as the sketch show’s second season premiered on 12 September, hosted by Jeff Goldblum.
She performed two tracks: ‘Stay For Something’, from her 2023 album Crazymad, for Me, and the title track from last year’s Euro-Country, the record that’s done most of the heavy lifting for her breakthrough. Euro-Country picked up Best Album at the 2026 Ivors, landed a Mercury Prize shortlist nod, placed in the top four of NME’s best albums of 2025, and earned CMAT a Best International Artist nomination at the 2026 BRITs, so this was very much a victory lap of a performance.
She didn’t just sing, either. CMAT turned up in Goldblum’s opening monologue holding cue cards referencing his Jurassic Park role (his deadpan response, “I don’t recognise it”, right before the theme kicked in), and popped up in the recurring sketch ’45 Seconds with Fouracres’, going head-to-head with comedian George Fouracres in a lightsaber battle over a forgotten black pudding.
It’s a solid get for a show still finding its feet: SNL UK launched on Sky in March 2026 with Tina Fey hosting the debut episode, and this season opened with a six-episode run, with more expected in 2027.
For CMAT fans, it’s also a reminder to catch her while they can. She said back in July that she won’t be touring in 2027, admitting the previous six years of non-stop touring and recording had left her, in her words, “literally losing my mind.”
