Bang Bang Romeo’s ‘Shame On You’: A Fiery New Pop-Rock Anthem

Doncaster’s very own Bang Bang Romeo are making waves with their unique blend of 60s-inspired sounds and alt-rock, as showcased in their latest single, ‘Shame On You’. This year has been monumental for the trio, with heavy radio play on Radio 1 and 6 Music and a standout performance opening for Kasabian on the main stage at the Isle of Wight Festival.

Shame On You is a pop-rock powerhouse, driven by the commanding vocals of 22-year-old frontwoman Anastasia Walker. The band explains the song’s meaning as a tale of two “negative magnets” who, despite knowing their relationship is doomed, can’t help but be drawn together – the perfect “Ying and Yang.”

Walker’s extraordinary vocals, which draw comparisons to Amy Winehouse and Adele, fuel the track with raw emotion. Her husky voice turns the song into a soulful anthem, adding layers of depth to the band’s already striking sound. Known for being a strong voice for the LGBT community, Walker continues to break barriers in an industry still dominated by men.

The track is marked by soulful harmonies that meld seamlessly with Walker’s voice, creating a sound that’s pure liquid gold. It’s clear the band is carving their own path, evoking comparisons to the legendary Fleetwood Mac, while still keeping their unique edge.

Despite the song’s simplicity, with only two main instruments—Richard Gartland’s heavy drum bass and Ross Cameron’s sturdy guitar riff—the arrangement builds up to a captivating chorus that packs a punch. The stripped-down instrumentation allows the song’s message and Walker’s voice to shine through.

Currently working in New York and LA with chart-topping Billboard producers, Bang Bang Romeo is poised to make a lasting impact in the music world. With their debut album set to drop in October 2018 via Five Seven Records, the trio is definitely one to watch.
