Circa Waves Embark on a New Journey with ‘American Dream’

Liverpool’s indie sensation Circa Waves is back in the spotlight with their latest single, “American Dream,” taken from their highly anticipated new album, Death & Love Pt.1, set to be released on January 31, 2025, via Lower Third/PIAS. As the U.S. gears up for its election season, Circa Waves channels their own campaign trail with a poignant exploration of ambition and the pursuit of success.

Frontman Kieran Shudall describes “American Dream” as a reflection on the quest for happiness and fulfillment. He shares, “A yearning to get somewhere because we think the grass is greener on the other side only to find that happiness doesn’t lie there. Sometimes you need to fly across the world to gain a true love of home.” This new track follows the album’s first single, “We Made It,” and offers an explosive soundtrack to its themes of longing and introspection.

In support of the new album, Circa Waves will embark on their biggest UK headline tour to date, hitting the road in February and March 2025. Fans can look forward to electrifying performances at 12 venues across the country, including a highly anticipated show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on February 26 and a special homecoming finale at Liverpool’s Olympia on March 1. Tickets for the tour are available now.

Death & Love Pt.1 promises to be a deeply personal project for the band. Shudall’s near-death experience in early 2023, when doctors discovered a severe blockage in his main heart artery, has shaped the album’s urgent sound. Following a successful procedure to rectify the issue, Shudall turned to songwriting as a form of catharsis, resulting in a collection of tracks that echo the nostalgia and emotions that inspired him to pick up a guitar in the first place.

The album, self-produced by Shudall and engineered by Matt Wiggins (known for his work with Adele and Lana Del Rey), is a powerful blend of reflective guitar-pop. Circa Waves has evolved since their formation in 2013, drawing comparisons to the likes of the Strokes and Arctic Monkeys while carving out their unique sound with each release.

With the upcoming album and tour, Circa Waves stands at the forefront of their career, ready to share their journey of resilience and creativity with their expanding fanbase.
