August Burns Red are coming back, and if you’re a metalcore fan in Australia or New Zealand, this is the tour announcement you’ve been waiting for. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania veterans have confirmed their Season of Surrender Tour for September and October 2026 — their first Australian headline run in seven years and their first New Zealand shows in over a decade.
The tour kicks off in Perth on September 27, rolling through Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane before crossing the Tasman for two New Zealand dates — San Fran in Wellington on October 7 and the Powerstation in Auckland on October 8. Special guests on all dates are Australian melodic hardcore outfit Bloom, while Texas five-piece I Promised The World join for the Australian leg only.
The timing is significant. The tour will be the first place in the world where August Burns Red celebrate the release of Season of Surrender, their tenth studio album due June 5 via Fearless Records. “This tour will also be the first place in the world where we do a tour celebrating the release of our brand new record,” the band said in a statement. “We are bringing two of the best up and coming acts in metalcore today to make this a can’t miss show.” Over two decades into their career — 600 million streams, two Grammy nominations for Best Metal Performance, multiple Billboard Top 200 top 10 placements — they remain one of the genre’s most formidable live acts. Their 2023 Australian run supporting Polaris drew raves from local press, with Scenestr calling it “a raging masterclass in pure American metalcore.”
Support act Bloom are one of Australia’s most exciting heavy acts right now, with two full-length albums behind them and a reputation for live shows that consistently exceed expectations. I Promised The World, meanwhile, have one of the more remarkable origin stories in recent metalcore — formed in 2023 by vocalist Caleb Molina following the loss of his father to COVID-19, the band channel grief and defiance into a sound that blends screamo, Midwest emo and post-hardcore. They most recently supported The Devil Wears Prada across North America.
