Staines’ finest are officially back. Hard-Fi have announced their long-awaited return with a brand new studio album, Sweating Someone Else’s Fever, set for release on 19 June via V2 Records.

Marking their first full-length record in a decade and a half, the album sees the Stars of CCTV icons recharged and ready to tackle a “world gone sideways” with their signature sharp-eyed social commentary. Alongside the album news, the band has dropped the swaggering first single ‘They Ain’t Your Friends’ and confirmed a run of massive UK headline dates for December 2026.

Recharged and Unburdened: The Return to Cherry Lips

Written and recorded throughout 2025 in their synonymous ex-taxi-office-turned-studio Cherry Lips, the new record was produced by frontman Richard Archer alongside longtime collaborator Wolsey White.

The album title, Sweating Someone Else’s Fever, is named after an El Salvadoran saying about not fighting other people’s ego-based battles. It represents a band unburdened, playing together again for the pure joy of the music, free from the pressures of the industry machine.

New Single: ‘They Ain’t Your Friends’

The lead single, ‘They Ain’t Your Friends’, is out now and directs its fire at the fake allegiances of the online world and the hypocrisies of the modern music scene.

In a charming twist, the track was born from a collaboration between Archer and his 10-year-old son, who discovered two old demos on a laptop and stitched them together. “They were in different tempos so a lot sounded like chaos, but every now and then it would be really cool,” Archer laughs. “Now he’s going, ‘So where’s my cut?!’”

A Bold New Sound

While the social ire that defined their debut remains, the album introduces fresh dimensions to the Hard-Fi sound:

  • Cumbia Influences: Archer brings his love of Central American Cumbia to the track ‘Digo Nada’, featuring UK-based Colombian rapper Mike Kalle.
  • Guest Vocals: Olivier Award-nominated singer Krysten Cummings lends her powerhouse vocals to ‘You Rule My Heart’ and ‘A Rose Electric’.
  • Technological Tensions: Tracks like ‘Humpback Whale’ turn a wary eye toward the rise of AI and the shifting power dynamics of the digital age.
