hard life gear up for major UK headline tour this October

Tickets are expected to move fast, with the shows marking a full-circle return to the live stage after a period of creative reinvention. These dates will be the first time fans will hear onion performed in full, a project born out of a spontaneous trip to Tokyo and written during frontman Murray Matravers’ self-imposed break from music.

Genre-defying British outfit hard life are set to hit the road this October for a massive UK headline tour, their first full run of dates since 2022, following a run of summer festival appearances and the release of their third studio album, onion.

The tour kicks off in Leeds on October 28, and will see the band hit Bristol, Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow, Nottingham, and their biggest London headline show to date at O2 Academy Brixton.

The new album was introduced earlier this year with two singles, the frenetic ‘othello’ and emotionally surreal follow-up ‘OGRE’, a breakup ballad with a twisted, cinematic edge.

OGRE is about a situation where nobody’s done anything wrong, but that almost makes things worse,” says Matravers. “Sometimes relationships are more complicated because they lack an antagonist. I’ll be your ‘OGRE’, if that gives us a clean break.”

With onion, hard life double down on their uniquely British mix of rap, indie, bedroom pop, and lyrical self-awareness, and their upcoming UK tour is shaping up to be one of the most exciting live returns of the year.
