Kings of Leon have hit pause on their summer plans after frontman Caleb Followill broke his foot in what he called a “freak accident” — and yes, it happened while parenting.

The band announced this week that all UK and European shows for June and July are officially cancelled, following Caleb’s emergency surgery in Nashville. The accident, which he says happened while playing with his kids, has doctors keeping him off his feet for the next two months.

It’s a bitter blow for fans who were gearing up for massive festival slots from Lytham to Madrid, and even more so considering the band had planned to debut new songs live.

Followill shared the news via Instagram, sounding gutted but grateful as he explained what happened and what comes next.

Though he didn’t share gory details, he admitted the break was serious enough to require surgery and a strict recovery window. While the summer tour is off, he promised that Kings of Leon will keep working on new music from the studio — or the sofa.

The band had been booked for headline sets at:

Blackweir Live (Cardiff)

Lytham Festival (England)

Victorious Festival (Southsea)

Mad Cool (Madrid)

Rock Werchter (Belgium)

No makeup dates have been confirmed yet, but Kings of Leon are still on the bill to support Zach Bryan at MetLife Stadium on 18 July, meaning Caleb should be back on his feet just in time for their U.S. run.

What’s Next for the Band?
With the live shows on hold, attention shifts to the music they were about to unleash. Their 2023 album Can We Please Have Fun hinted at a looser, livelier KOL, and fans were hoping this tour would bring the next chapter.

Now it seems like they’ll be channeling that energy into the studio instead — and if you’re a fan of the band’s signature slow-burn comeback moments (think Walls or Only by the Night era pivots), there’s still plenty to look forward to.

Final Word
We’ve seen rockstars taken out by pyro, stage dives, and dodgy mosh pits. But a shattered heel from a game of dad-tag? That’s a new one.

Here’s hoping Caleb heals up fast and the band makes good on that promise of new music. Because let’s be honest — we were ready to scream along in a field.
