Matt Corby Is Back in Auckland — and If Last Time Is Anything to Go By, You’ll Want to Move Fast

The two-time ARIA winner brings his Tragic Magic Tour to Auckland Town Hall on 29 May as part of the Winter Series.

Matt Corby is returning to Aotearoa, and if you were one of the lucky ones who caught his last Auckland show at The Powerstation in 2023 — which sold out instantly — you’ll already know exactly why this matters. For everyone else: get on it quickly.

The Australian soul singer will play Auckland Town Hall on Friday 29 May as part of the Winter Series, Live Nation’s curated concert series now in its second year, bringing together international acts and homegrown talent for a run of shows this winter. He joins Home Brew and Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 on the lineup, with more acts still to be announced.

The tour comes in support of Tragic Magic, his fourth studio album dropping on April 17. By all accounts it’s his most adventurous record yet — liquid basslines, hushed moments, soaring falsetto, and a sound that pulls together vintage funk, R&B, hip-hop and soft rock into something that feels both deeply familiar and completely new. If his 2023 album Everything’s Fine earned three ARIA nominations including Album of the Year, expectations for this one are understandably high.

A two-time ARIA winner and multi-platinum artist, Corby has spent the better part of a decade building one of the most distinctive voices in Australian music. Auckland Town Hall is a beautiful room for it. This one will go fast.

The Live Nation presale opens Friday 10 April at 11am, running until Monday 13 April at 10am. General sale follows Monday 13 April at 11am local time.
