Mumford & Sons Are Bringing Prizefighter to NZ

The British folk-rock icons have announced their Prizefighter Tour with one New Zealand stop only, and yes, it’s a full-blown arena show at Auckland’s Spark Arena on Saturday 2 May. So if you’re still humming I Will Wait or obsessed with their latest era of sonic evolution, this one’s for you.

Mumford & Sons are heading back to New Zealand in 2026 and honestly, it’s about damn time.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the band’s forthcoming sixth studio album Prizefighter, dropping 13 February via Gentlemen of the Road/Island Records. Produced with The National’s Aaron Dessner (yes, Taylor Swift’s folklore guy), the album features collabs with Hozier, Gracie Abrams, Chris Stapleton, and Gigi Perez. It’s shaping up to be a genre-blurring, emotionally punchy follow-up to Rushmere, which only landed earlier this year. Two albums in a year? Mumford’s in their renaissance era.

Supporting the tour are rising stars Folk Bitch Trio, whose witchy harmonies and raw lyricism have been quietly dismantling what folk “should” sound like. It’s a perfect match, a band built on festival anthems meets a group redefining intimacy on stage.

If you’ve ever seen Mumford & Sons live, you’ll know their gigs aren’t just shows, they’re collective outpourings. From banjo breakdowns to stadium-sized ballads, their sets are electric, nostalgic, and weirdly spiritual. Expect sing-alongs, teary eyes, and a whole lot of flannel.

General public tickets went live Friday 5 December at 11am local.

Plus, the band has teamed up with PLUS1 to support War Child, meaning $1 from every ticket goes toward protecting kids affected by war. Good tunes, good vibes, and a good cause – what more do you want?

This show isn’t just a tour stop. It’s a celebration of everything Mumford & Sons have become – collaborative, evolved, and still anchored in that communal live energy that made the world fall in love with them in the first place.
