Imagine a night out where you get to hear ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ and ‘Cars’ under the very same roof. You won’t have to dream it for much longer, because Simple Minds have just revealed they are heading back to New Zealand in early 2027 for a massive arena run, and they are bringing electronic pioneer Gary Numan along for the ride.
Billed as the V Tour, the massive live run marks an incredible five decades of music for Jim Kerr and co. Rather than slowing down, the Scottish arena veterans are operating at a serious peak, with their signature anthem ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ recently crossing into the prestigious Spotify Billions Club. You can expect a setlist packed to the brim with those huge, stadium-sized choruses that defined an era, from ‘Waterfront’ and ‘Alive and Kicking’ to ‘Belfast Child’.
The addition of Gary Numan makes this a proper heavyweight alt-pop pairing. This will be Numan’s first time touring New Zealand in over a decade, bringing his brooding atmospheres and driving electronic beats back to Kiwi audiences who have been waiting a long time to see him live again.
The three-date tour kicks off on Thursday 25 February 2027 at Auckland’s Spark Arena, before heading down to the TSB Arena in Wellington on Saturday 27 February. The brief but spectacular trip wraps up on Monday 1 March at Wolfbrook Arena in Christchurch.
If you want to secure your spot down the front, the early bird pre-sale kicks off on Thursday 18 June 2026 at 9am local time. Make sure you get your alarms set, because a line-up this historic isn’t going to hang around.
