Kaiser Chiefs are gearing up to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their iconic debut album, Employment, with an exhilarating series of outdoor shows across the UK in 2025. The festivities will kick off with a special hometown concert at Leeds’ Temple Newsam Park on May 31st, featuring a stellar lineup that includes Razorlight, The Cribs, The Coral, and We Are Scientists.
The tour will commence on May 23rd in Port Talbot and will bring the band’s energetic performances to cities such as Bristol, Edinburgh, London, Brighton, Cumbria, and Newquay, showcasing the spirit of a defining era in British indie music.
Reflecting on the impact of Employment, the band stated, “20 years ago, a brand new song by a brand new band was released. I Predict A Riot was the start of something really special for some musicians from Leeds. And the album that followed, Employment, changed our lives and has soundtracked the lives of millions of others since 2005. In 2025 we are saluting 20 years of that album, and everyone is invited. Come celebrate the 2000s, loving everything less & less and stripey blazers taking over the world. See you all next year.”
Released in March 2005, Employment has achieved seven-times Platinum status and remains the highest-selling album from a Leeds artist. It’s anthems, including “I Predict A Riot” and “Oh My God,” have become synonymous with Leeds culture, football, and life itself.
The Leeds show will be particularly special, featuring performances from Razorlight, who will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their seminal album Up All Night. Local favorites The Cribs will join the lineup, marking two decades since their classic album The New Fellas was released. Additionally, the bill will include The Coral and We Are Scientists, both of whom are also commemorating the 20th anniversary of their respective debut albums.
In a nod to the future, Kaiser Chiefs are also set to feature two up-and-coming indie acts: Hastings trio HotWax and West Yorkshire’s own Ellur, showcasing the vibrant talent in today’s music scene.
Tickets for the tour will go on sale on Friday, November 8th, at 9:00 AM. Fans are encouraged to grab their tickets early to ensure they don’t miss out on this nostalgic celebration of British indie rock.
