Manchester-based band Larkins wrapped up their latest tour with an explosive, sold-out performance at Academy 2 in their hometown. With a 900-strong crowd eagerly waiting to get inside, the venue filled up fast, as fans rushed to secure the best spots for the highly anticipated night.
Opening the show were two fantastic local bands, Puppet Theory and The Bright Black, both of which impressed the audience with their dynamic performances and catchy songs. These rising stars are definitely worth keeping an eye on, setting the tone for the rest of the evening.
By 9 PM, the stage was set for Larkins. The four-piece, dressed in vibrant shirts that gave off a summer vibe, took the stage with confidence and energy. Their performance kicked off with “Sugar Sweet,” immediately setting the crowd into a frenzy. The audience was throwing drinks in the air, jumping around, and singing along, fully immersed in the electric atmosphere. The band’s infectious energy was palpable, with lead vocalist Josh Noble, guitarist Dom Want, bassist Henry Beach, and drummer Joe Stott feeding off the crowd’s enthusiasm throughout the night.
Next up was “Velvet,” a song released two years ago but still resonating deeply with the crowd, who sang along as if it was their first time hearing it. The band followed this up with “Riverbed” and “The Tale of Cassandra,” tracks that had the crowd dancing and moving in unison. “The Tale of Cassandra” particularly stood out for its catchy rhythm and singalong moments, keeping the energy levels high.
Larkins also performed “Let Your Hair Down,” “Sapphire,” and an unreleased track called “Blind,” giving fans a taste of what’s to come. Their latest release, “Something Beautiful,” was another highlight of the evening, with the audience dancing along and fully embracing the feel-good vibe of the track.
As the final chords played, the crowd wasn’t ready to let go just yet. Chants of “We want more!” filled the room, and Larkins didn’t disappoint. They returned to the stage for an encore, treating fans to their biggest hit of the night, “Wasted Years.” The song had everyone jumping and shouting the lyrics back to the band, making it clear that this was a moment they had all been waiting for.
The night came to a close with “Hit and Run,” but not before frontman Josh Noble announced that they wouldn’t be leaving until they were kicked out, encouraging fans to stick around for pictures and chat with the band. It was the perfect end to an unforgettable night, leaving fans buzzing with excitement.
