I had heard many great things about Lewis Capaldi, and after seeing him live at Manchester’s Albert Hall, it’s safe to say I was completely wowed. Not only does Capaldi deliver an incredible vocal performance, but his sarcastic humour and relaxed stage presence made the show a true pleasure to experience. This was my first time seeing him live, and with high expectations, he didn’t disappoint—his blend of soulful music and sharp wit made the night unforgettable.
The evening kicked off with an impressive opening set from Billy Lockett, who took his place at the piano and quickly won over the audience. His heartfelt performance, paired with his beaming smile, made him an instant crowd favourite. Lockett’s emotional delivery was met with enthusiastic cheers, and it’s clear this young talent has a bright future ahead.
Following Lockett was Nina Nesbithttps://ninanesbittmusic.com/t, whose incredible voice and charming stage presence captivated the crowd. This was my first time seeing her perform, and I was thoroughly impressed by her originality and wit. A standout moment came when she performed a slowed-down, acoustic version of Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” which the audience loved. Her charisma and talent made her set one of the evening’s highlights.
When Lewis Capaldi finally took the stage, the atmosphere in the room was electric. The darkened venue filled with chants from eager fans who had been waiting for hours. As Abba’s “Mamma Mia” played, the crowd erupted in screams, and Capaldi launched into his first song, “Grace.” Despite being surrounded by 1,800 fans, the intimacy of his performance made the venue feel much smaller. Capaldi’s effortless ability to connect with his audience, cracking jokes between songs, had the entire crowd laughing—including me. He genuinely seemed to be enjoying himself, often commenting on how much fun he was having.
Capaldi treated the crowd to a mix of his older songs as well as some unreleased tracks, yet the fans still sang along, showcasing their dedication. A particularly memorable moment was when Nina Nesbitt joined him on stage for “Rush,” sending the crowd into a frenzy. Their duet was met with deafening cheers, and the energy in the room was palpable.
All three performers—Lewis Capaldi, Billy Lockett, and Nina Nesbitt—delivered heartfelt performances, making the night one to remember. Capaldi’s unique voice and passion for music make him a standout in the industry. With only seven songs currently available for streaming, there’s no doubt that there are many more incredible tracks and even bigger performances to come. Capaldi is an artist to watch, and I can’t wait to see where his career takes him next.
