Lewis Capaldi’s Sold-Out UK Tour: An Unforgettable Night in Manchester

With a SOLD OUT UK Tour, it’s no wonder Lewis Capaldi has been recognised by VEVO as a ‘One to Watch’ and featured on the BBC Sound of 2018 long list. At just 21 years old, he has steadily cultivated a devoted following, despite having only four songs officially released to date.

Upon our arrival at the Club Academy, the intimate basement venue was already buzzing with excitement, as fans eagerly awaited Lewis’s entrance. When he took the stage, he was met with thunderous applause and a sea of phones capturing every moment of the night.

The audience predominantly consisted of couples on date nights, which was a bit surprising, considering many of Capaldi’s songs explore themes of heartbreak.

Despite his youth, it’s clear that Lewis is still growing into his role as a performer. While he may not yet be fully comfortable engaging with the audience and commanding the stage, he certainly tried his best, cracking jokes and discussing the new music he has in store. Fans, however, were more than happy to simply listen in awe as he began to sing.

The opening track, ‘Only You,’ elicited deafening cheers, and some fans even joined in singing. But it was his next song, Mercy,’ that truly had the entire crowd belting out his lyrics in unison.

Fans were also treated to unreleased tracks, including ‘Fade,’ set to drop on February 24th. Other notable performances included ‘Tough,’ ‘Don’t Get Me Wrong,’ and ‘Grace,’ culminating in a rousing finale with ‘Bruises,’ a song everyone knew, as the crowd’s voices rose to drown out Lewis’s own.

His husky yet smooth vocals are a genuine delight, and it’s remarkable to witness such talent selling out venues of this size with only four tracks released. Lewis is also set to support Sam Smith on tour, which promises to be an incredible experience.
