Miles Kane Rocks Liverpool: Hangar 34 Concert Review

The Wirral Riddler, Miles Kane, turned up the heat during last night’s blistering performance at Liverpool’s Hangar 34. With temperatures soaring due to both the weather and the electrifying atmosphere, Kane delivered a near-homecoming gig that left fans buzzing.

Following an opening set from blues rockers The Mysterines, the crowd was already chanting “Miles, Miles, Miles F**king Kane!” by the time Kane hit the stage. Dressed in a shirtless suit and gold chain, he opened with the gentle groove of “Counting Down the Days,” only to quickly ramp up the energy as the crowd erupted during “Inhaler.”

Kane kept the audience in his grip with a mix of old hits like “Give Up” and “Better Than That”, allowing fans to sing them back to him. He had few words for the audience but didn’t need them – his menacing stares and commanding presence spoke volumes.

Tracks from his latest album Coup De Grace were met with just as much enthusiasm. The stage lit up in neon reds for “Loaded,” and the crowd got a taste of 60s and 70s nostalgia with tracks like “Cry On My Guitar,” which evoked a Marc Bolan-esque vibe, and the funky title track “Coup De Grace,” which felt like a trip back to Studio 54. A surprise cover of Donna Summer’s “Hot Stuff” perfectly set the mood for the night.

Things briefly derailed when a fight broke out during “Too Little Too Late”, but Kane’s humour showed through as he shouted “Off with their heads!” before diving back into the set.

The night took a reflective turn with “Colour of the Trap”, as fans linked arms and swayed under disco ball lighting, but the calm didn’t last. Kane brought the crowd back to life with an extended version of “Don’t Forget Who You Are”, encouraging fans to belt out the iconic “La La La’s” one last time.

The set ended with a fitting final blow – the raucous “Come Closer”. Under flashing strobe lights, mosh pits opened, and the audience gave everything they had left.

Though the show ended, the energy lingered as fans continued singing along in the streets, bringing an unforgettable night to a close.
