Georgia Lines is back in her feels – but with a wink. Her new single ‘Julia’ has just dropped, and it’s everything we love about her: a little dreamy, a little cheeky, and totally addictive. It’s the second taste of her upcoming EP THE GUEST HOUSE, arriving 29 August, and if this track is anything to go by, we’re in for a golden, soul-pop treat.

“You Can Date Anyone… Just Not Her”
We’ve all been there. That one ex. That one person you irrationally hope they don’t end up with. That’s the deliciously petty premise behind ‘Julia’, which Georgia calls “like accidentally wandering into the middle of a soap opera.” Sonically, it’s giving Carole King meets Laurel Canyon daydream – full of sunshine, sass, and a melody that sticks like lip gloss.
Inspired by a double-dream (yep, same night, same heartbreak), the song strikes that perfect Georgia Lines balance: emotionally sharp, but not afraid to laugh at itself. “Even in my dream, my response was ridiculous,” she admits. Honestly? Relatable.

The video, shot at a farmhouse in Manawatū, keeps it simple – performance-focused, unbothered, and fully in its feels. There’s no overproduced plotline, no symbolism you need a thesis to unpack – just Georgia, a mic, and some effortlessly charming energy. It’s like if Fleabag did music videos: dry, intimate, and a bit too real.
Coming Soon: THE GUEST HOUSE
‘Julia’ follows Wonderful Life, also co-written and produced by Matt Hales (aka Aqualung), and both will feature on THE GUEST HOUSE. Georgia calls the project “honest, human, fun,” and we can already hear the evolution. It’s her first release since her chart-topping debut album THE ROSE OF JERICHO – which, ICYMI, debuted at number one in NZ and scored her four AMA noms and a Taite Music Prize nod.
Lines says THE GUEST HOUSE reflects “where I am right now, personally and creatively,” and it shows. There’s something richer, more self-assured in this latest era – still pop, still soul, but with a knowing smile behind it.
