Good Neighbours Bottle Sunshine on Their Debut Album Blue Sky Mentality

With their debut album Blue Sky Mentality, they’ve bottled that same carefree energy and stretched it across 14 tracks of warm, sun-drenched indie-pop that’s as easy to listen to as it is to love.

If you’ve been anywhere near TikTok in the past year, you’ve heard Home, the viral “darling, won’t you take me homeeee” anthem that introduced London duo Good Neighbours to the world. With their debut album Blue Sky Mentality, they’ve bottled that same carefree energy and stretched it across 14 tracks of warm, sun-drenched indie-pop that’s as easy to listen to as it is to love.

It’s a confident first step, the kind of debut that knows exactly what it wants to be. From the opening track, there’s this sense of optimism running through everything: shimmering synths, bright guitars, and vocals that sound like they were made for open-air festivals. The whole record feels like a love letter to good days and good company, written somewhere between late-night drives and hazy mornings.

The title Blue Sky Mentality sums it up perfectly. It’s about keeping things light, even when life isn’t. The duo have said the phrase started as their band’s motto, a reminder to find joy and escapism wherever you can, and that spirit runs through every song here.

There’s plenty to like: WALK WALK WALK jumps out as a standout, upbeat, cheeky and full of that infectious, hands-in-the-air energy that first put them on the map. Kids Can’t Sleep is another easy highlight, translating the live crowd favourite into something crisp and euphoric on record. Elsewhere, songs like found u/me bring out their softer, romantic side, proof that Good Neighbours can slow things down without losing their spark.

That said, there’s a sense of sameness that creeps in now and then. The duo have nailed their sound so tightly that a few tracks blend together, not necessarily a bad thing, but it’ll be interesting to see where they push it next. Still, for a debut, Blue Sky Mentality feels polished, cohesive, and full of potential.

It’s a little bittersweet that it’s landing just as the UK slips into grey skies, because this is an album built for sunshine, for road trips, park days, and dancing barefoot somewhere that’s still warm. Thankfully, fans in Australia and New Zealand will get to enjoy Blue Sky Mentality exactly as intended: under a cloudless sky.

And with a full run of UK and European tour dates set for early 2026, including stops in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Paris, and Amsterdam, Good Neighbours are just getting started.

Blue Sky Mentality might not reinvent the wheel, but it’s a strong, unshakably fun debut from a duo who clearly know how to make people feel good. Sometimes, that’s exactly what music’s for.
