After months of teasing, global alt-rock provocateur YUNGBLUD has finally confirmed the arrival of IDOLS, the first half of a double album, due this summer via Locomotion/Island Records. This marks the fourth studio album from the 27-year-old artist, whose last two LPs both claimed the UK’s No.1 spot and racked up over 6 billion global streams.

Part one of IDOLS will feature 12 tracks recorded in his hometown of Leeds, and according to YUNGBLUD, it’s his boldest creative swing yet.

YUNGBLUD describes the album as “A love letter to self-reclamation… and to life in all its f*cking madness.”

With production led by Matt Schwartz and contributions from Bob Bradley and guitarist Adam Warrington, IDOLS leans into raw emotion and sharp introspection. The theme? Hero-worship, identity and self-evolution.

YUNGBLUD explores how we’re all guilty of putting others on pedestals before looking inward.

“We compare ourselves to 15 different people before we’ve even had our breakfast,” he says.

It’s a heavy reflection served with swaggering rock energy, pop grit, and emotional depth — a signature YUNGBLUD blend.

‘Zombie’, previewed at his surprise Scala show, was written about his grandmother’s experience with trauma and deterioration. “It’s about shutting the world out,” he said, “from fear of being a burden or an embarrassment.”

The album drops 20 June 2025, but fans can get in early with a slate of exclusive formats at https://www.yungbludofficial.com

IDOLS is shaping up to be more than just an album. It’s YUNGBLUD’s manifesto, a reflection on modern identity, celebrity worship, and the beauty of imperfection.

As YUNGBLUD puts it:

“We lose our belief in magic and mystery as we grow up. This is my attempt to get it back.”
