With the sun finally starting to make an appearance, that can only mean one thing… FESTIVAL SEASON IS COMING! At Music and Gigs, we LOVE festival season and have decided to compile a list of the best UK music festivals to attend this year. In date order, here are the best of the best. Whether we get rain or shine, you’ll still have a good time.
Hit The North Festival – 4th – 6th May 2018
Focused on new music, Hit The North Festival showcases established bands with fresh releases and emerging artists. Set in Newcastle City Centre, around 15 different venues will host music throughout the weekend. Expect performances from The Horrors, Marmozets, British Sea Power, and Tom Grennan.
Sound City Festival – 5th – 6th May 2018
Returning to Liverpool city centre, Sound City boasts a lineup featuring Peace and DMA’s, along with new acts like The Orielles. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, this festival is a must for music lovers in Merseyside.
BBC Big Weekend – 26th – 27th May 2018
Serving as Glastonbury’s 2024 replacement, BBC Big Weekend spans four locations, with Swansea hosting the main event. Headliners include Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, and Florence and the Machine, ensuring a weekend filled with stellar performances.
Bestival – 2nd – 5th August 2018
Bestival returns to Dorset with an eclectic mix of music genres. With acts like London Grammar, Plan B, and First Aid Kit, this festival offers something for everyone, from indie to dance and reggae.
Isle of Wight Festival – 22nd – 24th June 2018
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Isle of Wight Festival features major acts like The Killers, Kasabian, and a special performance from Depeche Mode. This is the ultimate destination for rock and pop enthusiasts.
Wireless Festival – 6th – 8th July 2018
