Kings of Leon are back with news of a tenth studio album, O My Beloved, due out on 6 November, and the first single already tells you this isn’t a rock record chasing arena bombast. ‘My Whole World’ is acoustic-driven and leans country, a noticeably softer opening statement than the band’s last few records.
It’s also the first Kings of Leon album the band has produced entirely themselves, released through Love Tap/Virgin. Frontman Caleb Followill has framed it as a look back rather than a reach forward: “We have already surpassed anything we ever imagined we could do, and we’ve built something that is so special,” he said, describing an album built around gratitude, family and childhood memory rather than the road-worn themes of recent releases.
The Zach Bryan connection running underneath this era is hard to miss. The two acts have been in each other’s orbit since Kings of Leon featured on Bryan’s 2025 song ‘Bowery’, and they’ve turned up at each other’s shows since. ‘My Whole World’s country lean reads less like a stylistic experiment and more like the sound of that collaboration settling in.
O My Beloved follows 2024’s Can We Please Have Fun and a surprise EP, #2, released in between, so the band clearly isn’t short on new material. Thirteen tracks are confirmed for the album, including ‘Cold Blue Dawn’, ‘Rose’ and ‘Blue Jeans and Diamonds’. Whether the rest of the record follows ‘My Whole World’ into gentler territory, or saves the volume for later, is the thing worth watching between now and November.
