Sickness and synth: Das Mörtal details mini-album ‘DECVY I’ alongside dual single release

Dark synthwave architect Das Mörtal returns with the visceral double-single 'PARASITE & GHOST', mapping out a heavy electronic blueprint for his upcoming mini-album DECVY I.

Renowned dark synthwave producer Das Mörtal has officially broken his silence, returning via Lisbon Lux Records with a stellar double-single release in the form of ‘PARASITE & GHOST’. The dual tracks serve as a brilliant introduction to a much larger narrative, dropping alongside the formal announcement of his highly anticipated upcoming mini-album, DECVY I, which is slated to land on 29 October 2026. If these initial offerings are anything like what we’ve heard so far, we are more than onboard for the full ride.

Boasting well over 31 million streams on Spotify alone, the Montréal-based, Berlin-initiated artist has spent the last decade building an intimidatingly fiercely loyal fanbase. Having cut his teeth opening massive global tours for industrial synth royalty like Vitalic, Perturbator, and Carpenter Brut, Das Mörtal has developed a signature style that weaves fluidly between club-ready techno and cinematic horror soundtracks.

The two new tracks showcase both sides of this split musical personality perfectly. ‘PARASITE’ features an upbeat, driving rhythm section paired with dazzling synth melodies, unfolding into a fast-paced darkwave odyssey. There is a tangible grit running through the composition, born out of an intensely personal place. “An illness has affected my body for some time now,” the producer reflects on the track’s creation. “And ‘PARASITE’ was made under a pain that I can’t quite shake off.”

Flip the coin over and you get ‘GHOST’, a track heavily infused with witch-house textures and pop-centric sensibilities. Propelled forward by an unrelenting kick drum, the song leans on exceptionally catchy vocal arrangements destined to move bodies in dark, strobe-lit spaces. It delivers that classic, nostalgic grit that fans have come to crave while refusing to stay stagnant in one lane.

With DECVY I locked in for a late autumn arrival, Das Mörtal is quietly preparing to deliver one of the most compelling electronic projects of the year. If you want a glimpse into the next evolution of darkwave, the digital pre-save links and accompanying visualizers are live right now.
