Alex Warren is having a moment, and today’s BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge session proved why. The breakout Californian singer-songwriter brought his chart-topping hit Ordinary to life, delivering an intimate performance that reminded everyone why the track dominated the UK’s Official Charts for an impressive 13 weeks (with 12 of those at No.1!).

But that wasn’t all. In classic Live Lounge style, Alex switched gears for a playful cover of Daryl Hall & John Oates’ ‘Rich Girl’, showing off his vocal range and easygoing charisma, perfect for this iconic setting. Both performances are available to watch now on BBC iPlayer and BBC Radio 1’s YouTube.

Banter, big reveals & British confessions

Alex’s interview with Rickie, Melvin and Charlie gave us the warm, slightly chaotic energy we expect from a great Live Lounge chat. Among the highlights:

  • Sliding into Lewis Capaldi’s DMs: Yep, Alex admitted texting Lewis a photo of himself on the toilet. Classic overshare or genius icebreaker? You decide.
  • Dream collab? Billie Eilish is top of Alex’s wish list (we’re manifesting it already).
  • Fave Live Lounge: Harry Styles’ iconic cover of Lizzo’s ‘Juice’ still reigns supreme in Alex’s eyes.
  • Brit confusion: Apparently, Coldplay’s Chris Martin genuinely thought Alex was British when they met. Honestly… understandable.
  • Marital disputes: When asked if his wife ever brings up the fact that ‘Ordinary’ is about her during arguments, Alex laughed and dodged (smoothly). Oh, and fun fact — he’s a big Modern Family fan and would love a cameo.
