Creamfields 2025 doubles down on sustainability with an expanded Cleanfields programme

The festival, which returns to Daresbury from 21–24 August, has set some ambitious goals. 5°C.

Creamfields is going big on sustainability again for 2025, building on the success of last year’s Cleanfields launch. With a long-term plan already in motion, this year’s edition marks a real push towards reducing waste, cutting emissions, and making the festival experience more environmentally responsible — without losing the energy it’s known for.

The festival, which returns to Daresbury from 21–24 August, has set some ambitious goals. Backed by sustainability agency Betternotstop, Creamfields has committed to reducing its scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030, aligning with science-based targets to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

Cleanfields 2025: What’s happening on site?

Cleanfields isn’t just a campaign — it’s a full setup. The Cleanfields Campsite returns, giving festivalgoers who sign the pledge access to a dedicated space, plus chances to win rewards like side-of-stage passes, merch, and even 2026 tickets. Last year saw record numbers of tents taken home and more cups recycled than ever before — small actions, big results.

You can also apply to join the Cleanfields Crew, the volunteer team helping others stay informed and involved across the weekend.

Travel: How you get there matters

Audience travel accounts for nearly 80% of a festival’s total emissions, so how you get to Creamfields really counts. Here’s what the festival recommends:

  • Coach: Book with Big Green Coach — it’s the greenest option, and they’ll protect 5 sq. ft. of Amazon rainforest per passenger.
  • Train + Shuttle: Hop on one of the nearby rail services and pre-book a shuttle bus to the site.
  • Car share: If you’re driving, use platforms like Liftshare or GoCarShare to fill seats and cut your carbon footprint.
  • Skip the flight: Coming from abroad? Trains over planes, where possible.

Power, Fuel & Energy Use

Creamfields is also tackling its own behind-the-scenes impact. In 2025, the festival is:

  • Increasing use of HVO biofuel, which cuts emissions by up to 90%
  • Reducing overall fuel consumption
  • Using battery storage to manage power smarter
  • Tracking energy use to improve year-on-year

Waste & Recycling: Know your bin

The aim for this year? Recycle 50% of all festival waste. You’ll find a two-bin system around campsites and arenas (and a third compost bin near food vendors). The breakdown is simple:

  • Green bin / recyclable: clean bottles, cans, cardboard
  • Clear bin / non-recyclable: flexible plastics, hygiene products, anything contaminated
  • No compost bin? Food waste and packaging go in the clear bin too

Bin bags are available at campsite entrances and recycling points — and yes, you can win rewards for dropping off sorted rubbish.

Water & Plastic Reduction

To reduce single-use plastic, all water sold on site is canned. Bring a reusable bottle or buy one on site, and refill at the water taps (next to all toilets and campsite hubs). It’s simple, and it saves waste.

Creamfields is still about big lineups and even bigger energy — but now, it’s also about leaving the land in better shape than we found it.
