Metallica’s New Zealand tour is hitting more than just the stage, it’s making an impact off it too. In a special one-off event, 50 Metallica fans are volunteering their time to pack food parcels for Kiwi families doing it tough. The initiative is part of the band’s charitable foundation, All Within My Hands, in partnership with local farmer-led charity Meet the Need.

It’s a moment where fan energy meets community support. With the cost of living climbing and food insecurity affecting more New Zealanders than ever, this event couldn’t come at a better time. Foodbanks across the country are under pressure, and Meet the Need is doing something about it, connecting farmers who donate livestock and milk with foodbanks that provide essentials to those in need.

Since launching in 2020, Meet the Need has helped deliver over 3 million meals, and this new collaboration is set to boost that effort. Powered by CNH and its Case IH brand, the event brings together fans, farmers, and volunteers to shine a light on a growing issue, especially among young families.

Founded in 2017 by the members of Metallica, All Within My Hands focuses on hunger relief, education, and support for vulnerable communities. Its support of this local initiative is part of a global effort to use the band’s reach for real, practical help.

Zellara Holden, General Manager of Meet the Need, says it’s about more than just one event: “Right now, 1 in 4 children in New Zealand are going hungry. By bringing people together—fans, farmers, and the wider community—we can start to change that.”

Spots for the volunteer day are limited, but the message is clear: small actions, especially when fuelled by community and shared purpose, can go a long way. Metallica fans are showing that being part of a movement means more than just following the music, it means stepping up when it counts.
