“Obviously”: Taylor Swift Confirms Greg James Is Invited to Her Wedding

The singer joined Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James to celebrate the release of her brand-new album The Life of a Showgirl, and in true Taylor fashion, the conversation took a few unexpected turns, including an on-air wedding invitation and a throwback to the infamous “go have a shower” moment from Radio 1’s Big Weekend in 2018.

Just when we thought Taylor Swift couldn’t shake up the news cycle any more than she already has this year, she casually dropped a wedding invite on live radio.

While talking about her fiancé Travis Kelce, Greg joked that he just wanted to “play catch” with him or maybe have a wrestling move done to him in a pool. Taylor replied, “The way that he’s going to do that as soon as he sees you at our wedding, that’s gonna happen.” When Greg asked, “Woah woah woah, am I coming?” she responded, “Obviously.”

Taylor also opened up about what it was like playing the album for Travis for the first time. She said she shared it with him after returning from Sweden. “I knew that this was the kind of album he was going to love the most,” she said. “He’s so supportive of all of it, but he’s a real vibes guy.” She also described him as “an exclamation mark” and added that “seeing him walk through a door is genuinely a privilege,” referencing his height and build.

Reflecting on the album’s release, Taylor said, “I have such uncomplicated feelings of joy about it.” Unlike her previous record, which she said was affected by major life changes during the release gap, this time, she explained: “My life is in exactly the same spot as when I wrote the record.”

She made The Life of a Showgirl with Max Martin and Shellback, marking their first collaboration in around seven or eight years. During that time, Taylor had been exploring writing in character, something she brought into this album. “Even though it’s about my life, sometimes you cos-play, like, this is a love song through the lens of Elizabeth Taylor’s life,” she said.

The conversation also returned to their viral moment from 2018, when Greg joked that Taylor needed a shower after her Big Weekend set. Taylor was quick to confirm she was never upset. “No, it was important and also I had already arrived there on my own, you were just reading my mind as good friends do… I was not upset, I actually laughed.” She added: “People don’t need to bubble wrap me in their minds as much as they do.”

Greg wrapped up by praising her album announcement, which came 90 minutes into Travis and Jason Kelce’s podcast New Heights. Taylor called it a “weird flex” and said, “I’m always trying to surprise people with how I announce albums… I love the polarity of the masculine feminine there.”
