BENEE is adding a single, stand-alone headline date to her summer calendar: a show at Coroglen Tavern on Monday 28 December, with support from Day We Ran and There’s A Tuesday. The Coromandel institution has long been a go-to for touring artists chasing a proper summer crowd, and this one lands just ahead of BENEE’s set at Rhythm & Vines.
It’s been a big stretch for the New Zealand-born, Los Angeles-based artist. Since ‘Supalonely’ turned her into a household name in 2020, she’s built out a catalogue that spans the Grimes- and Lily Allen-featuring Hey u x, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 anthem ‘Do It Again’ with Mallrat, and a string of Platinum and Gold certifications across multiple countries. She’s shared stages with Olivia Rodrigo, Tate McRae and Wallows on the road, picked up wins and nominations at the MTV VMAs, EMAs and the Aotearoa Music Awards, and her second album, Ur an Angel I’m Just Particles, is out now.
Support comes from two acts with plenty of momentum of their own. Day We Ran, a trio of brothers who grew up in Auckland and are now based across the Tasman in New South Wales, spent part of this year opening UK arena dates for Sam Fender and The Kooks before launching their own debut headline run through North America. Their breakout single ‘Foaming’ has passed 23 million Spotify streams and turned up in Netflix’s Outer Banks, off the back of a debut EP, Naked At Your Door, that landed in July.
Joining them are ลtautahi four-piece There’s A Tuesday, built around childhood friends Minnie Robberds and Nat Hutton alongside drummer Gus Murray and bassist Joel Becker. Their debut album BLUSH cracked the Top 20, single ‘Margo’ made the final five for this year’s APRA Silver Scroll, and the now fully independent band has spent the year travelling as far as South Korea and Australia’s BIGSOUND before heading into a summer of festival dates including Rhythm & Vines and Electric Avenue.
