Honestav announces massive Australia and New Zealand headline tour in wake of mgk arena support slot

Following a historic arena run supporting mgk, rising alternative star honestav has announced a five-date headline club tour across Australia and New Zealand for January 2027 in support of his new album Sweet American Boy.

Genre-fluid singer-songwriter honestav is officially heading back Down Under. Live Nation has confirmed that the rising star will bring his highly anticipated Sweet American Boy Tour to Australia and New Zealand in January 2027 for a string of exclusive, intimate club dates.

The announcement follows his explosive arena run earlier this year as the special guest for mgk, where the Missouri-born artist won over thousands of new fans across the region. At the final show of that tour, mgk famously handed honestav his first RIAA Gold certification plaque on stage for the viral, chart-climbing hit “I’d Rather Overdose”—a massive cosign that cemented his arrival into the alternative mainstream.

The newly announced 2027 dates will pivot from massive arenas to intimate club spaces, giving fans a rare opportunity to experience his raw, emotionally charged blend of folk, hip-hop, and alternative rock up close. The tour kicks off on Saturday 16 January at The Rechabite in Perth, before hitting major hubs in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, and finally wrapping up at Auckland’s The Tuning Fork.

The tour acts as a victory lap for his upcoming 16-track studio album, Sweet American Boy, which drops globally this week. Written during a whirlwind year on the road, the record expands on the unflinching, vulnerable honesty that first built his passionate fanbase. The album finds honestav wrestling with heavy themes of family history, addiction, grief, and love, capturing an artist caught directly between his difficult rural beginnings and his sudden global success.

Before transitioning into a streaming powerhouse, honestav (Avery Freeman) built a massive following through his viral TikTok comedy sketches, which clocked over 160 million views. However, it was his deeply personal music, written in the wake of immense family tragedy, that truly defined his trajectory. After his father’s death by suicide in 2024, Freeman penned “I’d Rather Overdose” on the drive home, a track that subsequently racked up over 157 million streams and peaked at Number 21 on Alternative Radio via a high-profile remix with MOD SUN.

Tickets for the general public go on sale this Friday, 19 June, at 10am local time. Fans looking to secure their spots early can access a series of staggered pre-sales, including the Mastercard and Artist pre-sales starting Wednesday, 17 June, followed by the Live Nation pre-sale on Thursday, 18 June.
