MIKA is back with Hyperlove, and he’s bringing it to UK record shops for a raw, stripped-back tour

To celebrate the release of his first English-language album since 2019, Hyperlove, the pop polymath is heading back to the places where it all began: local record stores. But don’t expect a greatest hits singalong. These shows are intimate, stripped-back, and paired with storytelling straight from the source.

After years of glitter, grandeur, and global success, MIKA is dialling things way down, and turning the emotional volume all the way up. To celebrate the release of his first English-language album since 2019, Hyperlove, the pop polymath is heading back to the places where it all began: local record stores. But don’t expect a greatest hits singalong. These shows are intimate, stripped-back, and paired with storytelling straight from the source.

Between 26–30 January, MIKA will be playing four UK in-store events—Kingston, Liverpool, Glasgow, and Birmingham, where he’ll perform a few tracks from Hyperlove and open up about his writing and recording process. “This is something I’ve never done before,” he says, “and I’m so excited to do it in the place where it all started for me.” It’s giving hometown healing. Tickets and bundles are available now, and yes, they’re going fast.

Out 23 January via Republic Records, Hyperlove is a full-bodied return to form, vintage MIKA soul with a bold sonic twist. Rooted entirely at the piano and created with only analogue and vintage gear, the album blends raw, analogue imperfections with sparkling electronic finesse. Think the humanity of an unplugged ballad meeting the clean thrill of a disco floor. If Life in Cartoon Motion was pop fantasia, Hyperlove is its grown-up, emotionally evolved cousin.

In true MIKA fashion, it’s more than just a vibe, it’s a vision. The album dips into themes of longing, vulnerability, grit, and—yes—euphoria. His classically trained voice soars across tracks that feel tactile and lived-in, showing once again why he’s lasted through every era of pop. From early bangers like “Grace Kelly” to today’s deeply textured storytelling, MIKA has never been afraid to evolve, and Hyperlove might be his boldest reinvention yet.

It’s wild to think it’s been nearly two decades since that falsetto first cracked open our hearts and playlists. Since then, he’s sold over 20 million albums, topped charts in 32 countries, coached on The Voice France, judged X Factor Italy, and hosted the Rose d’Or–winning Stasera Casa Mika. And in true pop prince fashion, he even organised I Love Beirut in 2020, raising over €1 million in relief efforts following the tragic explosion.

But through it all, what’s stayed constant is MIKA’s refusal to compromise on curiosity or craft. Hyperlove isn’t nostalgia bait, it’s an artist still asking questions, still searching for connection, and still willing to lay it all out, flaws and all. With this new album and the intimate tour to match, MIKA isn’t just coming back. He’s opening the door and inviting us into his process, his piano, and his heart. Don’t miss the moment.
