Old Dominion Are Finally Coming to NZ — and They’re Not Coming Quietly

It’s only taken them a decade of chart-topping hits and sold-out arena shows around the world, but Old Dominion are finally making their New Zealand debut next March, and they’re bringing backup.

It’s only taken them a decade of chart-topping hits and sold-out arena shows around the world, but Old Dominion are finally making their New Zealand debut next March, and they’re bringing backup.

The How Good Is That – World Tour is hitting Auckland’s Powerstation on Tuesday 24 March 2026 and Christchurch Town Hall on Thursday 26 March. It’s the first time Kiwi fans will get to see the Nashville five-piece live, and if their rep is anything to go by, it’s going to be loud, slick, and way more emotional than you expect from a band that once rhymed “car keys” with “heart beats.”

Who are they?

If you don’t know Old Dominion, start with this: they’re country’s not-so-secret weapon. They’ve written for the likes of Kenny Chesney and Blake Shelton, but it’s their own tracks, slick, harmony-driven, emotionally precise, that have earned them nine #1 singles, over six billion streams, and a serious cult following.

Their live shows have been described as everything from “electric” to “weirdly intimate for a stadium band,” and their fans? Let’s just say you’ll know all the words whether you planned to or not.

What’s the hype?

Old Dominion are eight-time ACM Group of the Year winners, seven-time CMA winners, and have literally broken venue records around the world. Their most recent album, Barbara, dropped in August 2024 and has been quietly redefining what “mature” country-pop can sound like, equal parts feel-good and gut-punch.

They’ve just wrapped a seven-show residency at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville (raising $1.25M for charity, by the way), and now they’re hitting the Southern Hemisphere for the first time since their CMC Rocks QLD performance in 2018.

This tour isn’t just a victory lap, it’s a long-overdue introduction for New Zealand crowds.

Who’s supporting?

Auckland and Christchurch will feature US breakout Alexandra Kay, who might actually steal the show if you’re not careful. With over 8.7 million social media followers and a debut album that hit #1 on iTunes globally, Kay is part of a new wave of country artists blending hyper-relatable songwriting with arena-sized vocals.

If the words “Feminine Energy” or “Cupid’s A Cowgirl” ring a bell, you already know she’s a force, but if not, this is your chance to catch her before she’s headlining.

(Dasha will appear on the Australian dates only.)

Word to the wise, these will go. Especially Auckland, which is intimate by their usual standards. Don’t be the person crying in a group chat because you hesitated.

Why it’s worth your time

Even if you’re not deep into country, Old Dominion tap into something that feels much bigger than the genre. They write about love, regret, timing, and those small, everyday moments that somehow hit harder when there’s steel guitar involved. There’s pop polish and Southern charm, but underneath it all is real craftsmanship.

And live? They’re known for turning massive venues into group therapy with better lighting.

So whether you’re a lifelong fan or just country-curious, these shows are a rare chance to see a world-class band in a way more personal setting than they’re used to.

Get in. Feel things. Regret nothing.
