The Reytons Are Heading Down Under — and New Zealand Is on the List Too

The Sheffield band bring their first ever world tour to Australia and New Zealand this December.

It’s one thing to sell out Wembley Arena. It’s another to follow it up by announcing shows in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Wellington and Auckland. But that’s exactly what The Reytons have done, and if their reputation for turning rooms into something close to a collective experience travels as well as their music has, Australia and New Zealand are in for a very good time.

The Antipodean leg of their first ever world tour runs through December, kicking off in Perth at Magnet House on 27th November before moving through Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, then crossing the Tasman for shows in Wellington at San Fran on 7th December and Auckland at The Tuning Fork on 8th December. It’s a run that fits neatly into a tour that has already taken in the US, the UK’s biggest arenas, and Japan — confirmation, if any were needed, that The Reytons are no longer a band operating on a local scale.

Built entirely on blue-collar grit and a fanbase that has grown without major label support, the Sheffield four-piece have spent the past few years hurdling every obstacle put in front of them. Number one albums, Tramlines headline slots, Wembley — and now a world tour to match. BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders has called them unstoppable, and the routing suggests he’s right.

They’re also bringing a new album with them. A Love Letter To A Broken Town, their fourth studio record, arrives in July ahead of the tour — rooted in the same social commentary and everyday honesty that has defined everything they’ve done, but bigger and bolder for it. Frontman Jonny Yerrell puts it simply: “I honestly feel like this album is the best we’ve ever done.”

If you’re in the UK, they’re playing some of their biggest shows yet over there too — Alexandra Palace, Co-op Live and more. Full details in our UK dates piece.

Tickets for all shows go on sale Friday 24th April at 10am local time from thereytons.com.
