Labrinth’s Cosmic Opera Act II Is Nearly Here

The Emmy-winning British composer and artist follows up January's critically acclaimed Act I with a twelve-track second instalment, out 29th May.

There aren’t many artists operating at the intersection of experimental pop and full orchestral composition who also manage to feel genuinely accessible. Labrinth is one of them, and Cosmic Opera Act II β€” arriving 29th May 2026 β€” looks set to be another reminder of why that combination is so rare and so worth paying attention to.

The album is the second instalment of a project that began with Cosmic Opera Act I in January 2026, and it arrives with considerable momentum behind it. Labrinth has just come off two performances at Coachella, widely described as among the weekend’s most visceral and memorable sets β€” the kind that remind you what live music can be when someone with real compositional range and genuine pop instinct brings both to the same stage at the same time.

The twelve-track record continues the complex, multi-layered emotional storytelling that has defined his work across chart-topping pop, film scores, and his celebrated contribution to one of the most acclaimed drama series of the past decade. The tracklist β€” which runs from Anointed Reprobate through to Very Good Boy, with stops including When You Walk In, Follow The Leader and I Know It’s Love along the way β€” suggests an album that refuses to sit still sonically, which for Labrinth is very much the point.

An Emmy Award winner and two-time Grammy nominee, he has spent his career building toward exactly this kind of project β€” one expansive enough to hold everything he does at once. Cosmic Opera Act II feels like the continuation of that ambition, and May can’t come soon enough.

He’ll be taking the album on the road in the US this summer with the Undoing Tour, a run that pairs headline club shows with full orchestral performances alongside some of the country’s leading symphony orchestras β€” the kind of live campaign that matches the scale of the music itself.
