Mayday Parade find clarity on new single ‘Lying To Myself’, announce trilogy finale ‘Sugar’

Mayday Parade have announced their upcoming album Sugar, dropping 24 July as the final chapter in their massive three-part trilogy. To celebrate, the emo veterans have shared their moody and driving new single, 'Lying to Myself'.

Alt-rock and emo icons Mayday Parade have returned with their brand-new single ‘Lying to Myself’, alongside the announcement of their upcoming studio album, Sugar, arriving 24 July 2026.

Sugar marks the third and final instalment in the band’s ambitious three-part album trilogy. The year-plus creative undertaking kicked off in April 2025 with Sweet and was followed by Sad in October 2025, allowing the band to explore three completely distinct sonic identities. By the time the final record lands later this month, the Florida quintet will have dropped nearly 30 songs across the cycle, all while celebrating 20 years together as a band.

Built around themes of denial, reflection, and self-reckoning, ‘Lying to Myself’ captures Mayday Parade at their absolute best. The track pairs a restless momentum with driving guitars to dive deep into the false narratives people build to avoid facing hard realities.

“I had worked on this song for a month and couldn’t get the vibe right until Alex gave me the idea to go a bit more minor with the chorus and the whole thing just fell into place,” guitarist Brooks Betts shares regarding the track’s evolution.

Where Sweet captured the band’s high-energy, immediate rock instincts and Sad dove into introspective depths, Sugaracts as the ultimate encapsulation of both worlds. Produced by the band’s longtime studio partners Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, the 10-song tracklist seamlessly balances pure pop-punk nostalgia with forward-thinking momentum. The record closes out on ‘What Happens Next’, a hypnotic track the band describes as both a fitting finale to the trilogy and a clear statement of intent for their next era.

The massive output follows a landmark period for the group, who recently completed their largest North American headline tour to date and performed global runs with the likes of All Time Low, Simple Plan, and Jack’s Mannequin. Mayday Parade will celebrate the record release on the road, including a highly anticipated main-stage slot at the Vans Warped Tour in Long Beach on 26 July.
