Press & Media

Whether you're a label, a PR agency, a brand looking to reach passionate music fans, or a writer who wants to cover the NZ and UK music scenes — you're in the right place. Read the relevant section below before getting in touch.

01

Press & Media

Music & Gigs is an independent music publication covering the global music scene — news, reviews, interviews, gig guides, and in-depth features. Whether you’re pitching a story or exploring a partnership, you’re in the right place.

We accept press releases, interview requests, advance streams, review copies and gig accreditation requests. We read everything we receive — but we only cover what genuinely fits our editorial focus. Please read our coverage policy before pitching.

We are an independent publication. We do not guarantee positive coverage in exchange for access. What you send us will be reviewed honestly.

We Cover

  • Artists on tour or releasing new music
  • Festival announcements and lineups
  • Emerging artists across all genres
  • Established and global acts making waves
  • Music industry news and culture

We Don’t Cover

  • Coverage guaranteed in exchange for access
  • Generic press releases with no editorial angle

What to include in your pitch: Artist name, release or tour details, streaming links, hi-res press images, and any specific coverage requests. The more relevant context you give us, the faster we can turn it around.

Tips for a Great Pitch

01

Lead with the story

Tell us straight away why this is relevant to our readers right now — a tour, a release, a moment worth covering. Get to the point fast.

02

Keep it short and scannable

One paragraph, the key facts, a streaming link and press images. We receive a lot of pitches — the ones that get our attention are the ones that respect our time.

03

Don’t follow up immediately

If we’re interested we’ll be in touch. If we haven’t responded it usually means the pitch wasn’t the right fit rather than that we missed it.

Advertising & Parterships

Music & Gigs reaches passionate, engaged music fans who are actively looking for gig information, new music, and music news. That makes our audience highly receptive to brands across music, ticketing, lifestyle, and entertainment.

We keep advertising low-volume and high-relevance. No screen-filling ad stacks, and no promotions that have nothing to do with music. If you’ve got something our readers would genuinely want to know about — we’d love to talk.

Display Advertising

Banner and sidebar placements across the site. Monthly or campaign-based packages available.

Sponsored Content

Editorial-style content written by our team, clearly labelled as sponsored. This includes Artist Spotlight Partnerships — dedicated features built around a specific artist, release, or tour for brands that want to be part of the story rather than beside it.

Competition Partnerships

Run a competition for tickets, merch, or experiences through Music & Gigs — or go bigger with Gig Guide Sponsorship, presenting our weekly guide as the brand our readers associate with live music. Either way, you’re connecting directly with fans already planning their next night out.

Newsletter Sponsorship

Reach our subscribers directly in our weekly newsletter. Single-sponsor format only — your message is the only ad our readers see that week.

Write For Us

Music & Gigs is built by music fans who care deeply about honest, quality coverage. If that sounds like you — we’d love to hear from you.

We don’t pay contributors at this stage. What we do offer is a real publishing platform, a proper editorial process, press access to shows and events, bylined articles you can use in your portfolio, and the chance to grow alongside a publication that’s genuinely going somewhere.

We’re particularly looking for writers and photographers who can cover gigs on the ground in their city. If you’re regularly going to shows and you can write or shoot honestly about what you see, that’s more valuable to us than a journalism degree.

What We’re Looking For

  • Live reviewers who attend shows regularly and know their local scene inside out
  • News writers who can turn around a short, accurate news post quickly when a story breaks
  • Album and single reviewers with a genuine critical voice and knowledge of the genre they’re covering
  • Feature writers who can pitch original ideas and deliver long reads that hold a reader’s attention
  • Interviewers who can hold their own in a conversation with an artist and find the story behind the story
  • Photographers with live music experience or a strong existing portfolio

How to Apply

1

Read the site first

Spend 10 minutes reading what we publish. Make sure your voice and interests genuinely fit what we do.

2

Send us three things

A short intro (3 sentences), your city and what you’d cover, and a link to something you’ve written — a blog, a review, anything that shows us how you write.

3

We’ll be in touch

If we think you’re a fit we’ll ask for a trial piece on a brief we give you. No guarantees, but every application gets read.
