alayna Shares Soulful New Single ‘Hold Me’ Ahead of Upcoming Album

“It feels very universal,” alayna says. And she’s right. It’s one of those quietly devastating truths that hits everyone differently, depending where you’re at in life, love, or loss.

alayna doesn’t just write songs, she captures feelings you’ve had a hundred times but never quite had the words for. Her new single ‘Hold Me’, taken from her upcoming sophomore album SET HER FREE (due out February 13, 2026), is a quiet emotional gut-punch wrapped in velvet. It’s the kind of track that makes you stop what you’re doing, sit with it, and maybe check in on your feelings.

Written in Los Angeles alongside Grammy-winner Sebastian Kole (Alicia Keys, John Legend) and production duo The Orphanage (Demi Lovato, Alessia Cara, Bebe Rexha), ‘Hold Me’ is one of those songs that walks the line between intimacy and universality. It’s tender and stripped back, built on the simplest of longings, to be held. By someone you love, someone you miss, or maybe just yourself.

“It feels very universal,” alayna says. And she’s right. It’s one of those quietly devastating truths that hits everyone differently, depending where you’re at in life, love, or loss.

The story behind the song adds another layer. Sebastian Kole came into the studio that day humming something he’d made up in the car, and what he played alayna was already close to finished. “It was like receiving a gift,” she explains. “He captured a feeling so beautifully. It was powerful. I learned a lot about trust and letting go that day.”

That energy, surrender, softness, letting the feeling lead, runs through the whole track. There’s no overproduction, no trying to do too much. Just alayna’s signature vocal clarity, paired with delicate piano and room to breathe.

The video for ‘Hold Me’ matches the song’s emotional tone. Shot in collaboration with Westall Road and directed by Laila Ben-Brahim and Marlan Prabahar, the visual was one part cinematic mood piece, one part endurance challenge, filmed in the same 18-hour window as two other upcoming videos. alayna wrapped herself in silver fabric, stood beneath projected oceans and skies, and let the visuals echo the track’s themes: magnitude, vulnerability, and the stillness of wanting something you can’t quite reach.

“I wanted to show the scale of what I was feeling,” she says. “That kind of quiet, powerful humanness.” And it comes across, both in the visuals and in the music. It’s understated but full of meaning, which is exactly where alayna’s always excelled.

‘Hold Me’ follows a steady evolution in alayna’s artistry. Her 2023 debut album SELF PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN UNRAVELLING was a raw and deeply personal record, a turning point after years of collaborative work with artists like Finneas, Ta-ku, and Sango. With SET HER FREE, she’s shifting focus outward, reflecting on connection, care, and the women who’ve shaped her. It’s still vulnerable, still full of softness, but this time it’s shared.

Her upcoming album SET HER FREE promises to hold space for both introspection and expansion. ‘Hold Me’ is a powerful first step, a track that feels quiet but lands loud, like an open invitation to sit with your own longing.

The album drops in February. Until then, hit play, take a moment, and let this one hold you for a while.
