Amelia Coburn releases ‘Something Wild’ ahead of Royal Albert Hall headline show

Amelia Coburn has announced her new single Something Wild, landing today, just weeks before her biggest London headline show to date at the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room on 24th October. The track is a bold step forward for the Middlesbrough-born artist, continuing the momentum from her acclaimed debut album Between The Moon And The Milkman and a recent feature on Paul Weller’s latest LP Find El Dorado.

The new single is unmistakably Amelia – literate, theatrical, and driven by a flair for world-building, but this time with teeth. Inspired by feminist authors like Angela Carter and Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Something Wild flips the classic fairytale narrative on its head. “The protagonist sheds the skin of domestic life, bares her teeth and becomes the very same wolf the old fables warned us about,” she explains.

Built around a relentless, galloping guitar riff and wrapped in Ruth Lyon’s sweeping string arrangements, the track manages to channel the cinematic drama of a Bond theme, without losing the intimacy or eccentric charm that Coburn’s known for. It’s folk, but not in any traditional sense, more alt-folk noir, equal parts grit and glitter.

The single also comes with a Red Riding Hood-inspired video, directed by Rob Irish, where Amelia leans fully into the song’s themes of transformation and autonomy. It’s playful, surreal, and endorphin-fuelled in all the right ways, a sharp companion to a track that’s all about breaking free.

Her writing often veers into gothic, folkloric, or literary spaces, but always paired with enough melody and character to stay accessible.

Amelia’s live shows have follow a similar arc – intimate but theatrical, and increasingly in-demand. The upcoming Royal Albert Hall date will be a full-band set, her biggest London headline show yet, followed by new solo dates across the UK into early 2026.
