Capaldi’s New Anthem ‘Something in the Heavens’ Brings Back Raw Emotion

When I first heard Something in the Heavens, I had to stop what I was doing and just listen. The line “I’ll love you ’til my last breath, you’re gone but something in the heavens tells me that we’ll be together again” hit like a punch to the chest. It’s the kind of lyric that makes you think instantly of that one person you’ve lost, the one you’d give anything to see again.

Lewis Capaldi is making sure 2025 belongs to him. Hot on the heels of announcing his biggest ever UK & Ireland outdoor shows for 2026 (including a massive night at BST Hyde Park), he’s unveiled his brand-new single Something in the Heavens, a track that reminds us exactly why his voice cuts through like no other.

There’s a raw honesty in the verses, “hands as soft as the sand, but harder to hold”, that captures the ache of memory so vividly it almost hurts. But somehow, even through the heartbreak, the song leaves you holding on to hope, like Lewis is telling us we’re not alone in clinging to the idea of reunion.

The song, co-written with Connor and Riley McDonough, explores love, loss, and the glimmers of hope that remain. “I’ll love you til my last breath, you’re gone but something in the heavens tells me that we’ll be together again,” he sings, effortlessly unearthing emotions that fans have already been screaming back to him across sold-out arenas.

To mark its release, Lewis dropped a striking live video filmed at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, directed by Huse Monfaradi (known for working with Arctic Monkeys and Michael Kiwanuka). It’s raw, heartfelt, and quintessentially Capaldi, proving once again he knows how to make a song feel like it’s just for you.

This new single comes during a whirlwind return for the Scottish star. His comeback track Survive not only became the fastest-selling single of 2025 but also landed him his sixth UK number one. If you missed the tour news, we’ve covered all the details on his 2026 UK & Ireland summer dates here.

From rapturous arena crowds to TikTok livestreams, and now this soul-stirring Abbey Road performance, it’s clear Lewis is firmly back where he belongs, commanding stages, topping charts, and tugging heartstrings worldwide.
