The Rooks Are Ready to Cause Some Noise & Confusion

There’s no fluff here. According to the band, this EP is just them, no producers, no frills, just five mates bottling the chaos and catharsis of their live shows into a handful of songs. It’s raw, loud, emotional, and full of the kind of confidence you can’t fake. “There’s a universal truth in these songs that'll be here long after we are,” they say.

The Rooks Are Ready to Cause Some Noise & Confusion

If you’ve been keeping even half an eye on the UK indie scene lately, you’ll have noticed a name popping up more and more: The Rooks. And now, they’re about to make things official. The Glasgow-based four-piece have just announced their debut EP Noise & Confusion, landing 14th November, and it’s already shaping up to be a major moment.

There’s no fluff here. According to the band, this EP is just them, no producers, no frills, just five mates bottling the chaos and catharsis of their live shows into a handful of songs. It’s raw, loud, emotional, and full of the kind of confidence you can’t fake. “There’s a universal truth in these songs that’ll be here long after we are,” they say. Big claim. But from what we’ve heard so far? Fair.

The new single Where We Were Before dropped today and it’s a seven-minute epic. No edits, no radio cuts, just pure, cinematic energy. It builds, swells, crashes, and hits like a final scene in a film you don’t want to end. Vocalist Ross Gardiner described it as “the feel of a live show for listeners who haven’t seen us yet,” and honestly, it delivers. It’s got guts, and no fear of taking up space.

This all comes off the back of their Tenement Trail slot last weekend, where they headlined a packed-out Barrowlands 2, and a run of live dates that’s seen them build a loyal, rowdy fanbase city by city. They’ve shared stages with some huge names this year, but they’re not riding coattails. The Rooks booked their own gigs, played in bowling clubs and town halls, and landed TRNSMT’s BBC Introducing stage without a label, agent or manager. No big team, just big tunes.

Their headline show at Glasgow’s Art School this December is already close to selling out, and with support slots lined up for The Snuts and Vistas, the rest of 2025 is looking loud.

Noise & Confusion isn’t just a title, it’s a warning. The Rooks aren’t sneaking into the scene quietly. They’re walking in, amps blazing, and letting the music speak for itself.
