TEEKS shares powerful, deeply honest new single and music video ‘My Boy’

Acclaimed Māori soul performer TEEKS has delivered his most fearless release to date, challenging expectations around masculinity and queerness on his new single 'My Boy'.

Acclaimed Māori soul artist TEEKS has officially unveiled his powerful new single and accompanying music video, ‘My Boy’. The sensual, playful, yet deeply personal release marks a fearless new chapter of artistic honesty for one of Aotearoa’s most celebrated voices, delivering work that directly challenges traditional expectations around queerness and sexual identity.

Built around his unmistakable, velvety baritone and intimate songwriting style, ‘My Boy’ finds TEEKS embracing an honest expression of his queer identity, drawing directly from his own lived experiences with a fresh sense of openness and contentment.

“I was doing sessions back to back and got tired of explaining or correcting people on my sexuality,” TEEKS shares regarding the inspiration behind the track. “It got to a point where I would just go with whatever people assumed so that I could just get through it. Eventually, I started to feel disingenuous, and so when I did the session with M Basa and Josh Fountain I thought, it’s now or never. I got into the vocal booth and didn’t hold anything back.”

The single drops alongside a striking visual companion piece directed by TEEKS alongside his longtime creative collaborator Ray Edwards. The music video mirrors the tender, vulnerable core of the song while building an evocative visual landscape of queerness and homoeroticism. Through deliberate imagery and genuine affection, the video actively challenges rigid ideas surrounding manhood, masculinity, and sexual fluidity within Polynesian and POC communities.

The multi-award-winning singer-songwriter has long been established as an unparalleled voice within New Zealand’s musical landscape, previously securing the Aotearoa Music Award for Best Māori Artist, Best Solo Artist, and Best Soul/R&B Artist. His platinum-certified debut album Something To Feel solidified his international footprint, topping the domestic charts and fueling viral success as far as South Africa, contributing to a global footprint that currently sits at more than 200 million streams.

With ‘My Boy’ available across all streaming platforms today, TEEKS invites his dedicated community of listeners into an essential space of vulnerability, tenderness, and truth.
