Irish hitmakers The Script have unleashed their latest single, ‘The Crowd Was Singing Wonderwall’, providing fans with another taste of their highly anticipated studio album, The User’s Guide To Being Human, arriving 14 August 2026.
The new track keeps the band’s upbeat momentum flying high following the strong reception of lead single ‘Man In The Arena’, which recently earned an A-list spot on Radio 2. Both songs underscore the trio’s enduring pop-rock appeal, building on a career that has generated six number-one albums in the UK, 14 billion streams, and over 4.5 million ticket sales worldwide.
‘The Crowd Was Singing Wonderwall’ seamlessly fuses the band’s trademark stadium-sized choruses with the anthemic swagger of classic indie-rock. A towering ode to nostalgia and the enduring power of lifelong friendships, the song draws direct lyrical inspiration from the communal euphoria surrounding Oasis’s massive reunion tour last year. The narrative tracks friends who fell out in 1993 and unexpectedly cross paths three decades later at a reunion gig.
“The Gallaghers reuniting put into the zeitgeist the idea that forgiveness is cool again,” says frontman Danny O’Donoghue. “The hairs on the back of my neck stood up when I saw them walking out with their hands together. If two of the most notorious people for being at loggerheads can overcome their differences, anything’s possible!”
For the new record, the band returned to Topanga Canyon in Los Angeles to reunite with longtime production and writing partners Andrew Frampton, Steve Kipner, and Jimbo Barry—the exact team behind their signature hits ‘Hall Of Fame’ and ‘Breakeven’.
The Script are currently on the road supporting Take That on their massive UK and Ireland stadium circuit, which will be followed by four outdoor shows alongside Luke Combs. The band will follow the record’s release with an expansive autumn arena tour hitting the UK, Europe, and Asia.
