Three-time GRAMMY winner and generational vocal powerhouse Tori Kelly has officially announced her highly anticipated new studio album, God Must Really Love Me, scheduled for global release on June 12 via Epic Records. To mark the announcement, Kelly has gifted fans a double-single release, dropping the tracks “Control” and “Dive” across all streaming platforms today.
God Must Really Love Me moves with an unhurried ease, reflecting a newfound artistic confidence and clarity of vision. The album delivers a radiant fusion of R&B, soul, acoustic pop, and gospel. In a meaningful departure from her previous records, Kelly crafted the majority of these tracks in complete solitude before stepping into the studio to collaborate with heavy-hitting industry producers and co-writers.
The album’s creative team includes notable talent such as DIXSON, Nija Charles, Emily Warren, and Ammo. While primary recording took place in Los Angeles alongside main producers Tommy King and Dan Farber, several tracks originally surfaced while Kelly was touring European arenas as the special guest to superstar Ed Sheeran.
The record is also deeply anchored in Kelly’s recent journey into motherhood. The tracklist features several deeply personal standouts, including a minute-long title track intro dedicated to her son that features a recording of his voice, the dreamlike “Too Much” written just ten days after his birth, and “Bliss,” an acoustic guitar lullaby.
Regarding the inspiration behind the new music, Kelly shared that “Control” reflects how she copes when life feels chaotic, turning to her faith to release her worries before they weigh her down. She wrote “Dive” while seven months pregnant, capturing the giddy, anxious excitement of moving into a new phase of life and recognizing the need to simply jump in and do her best.
