Daniel Seavey on Letting Go, Moving On, and Why Some People Never Really Leave

The multi-platinum singer-songwriter and producer's first new music since his debut solo album arrives via Atlantic Records, alongside a Kevin Lombardo-directed video.

There’s something assured about the way Daniel Seavey has been building his solo career, and Time to Time (Annie) β€” his first new music since debut album Second Wind β€” feels like the sound of an artist who knows exactly where he’s headed. Self-produced, emotionally clear, and already a live favourite having been performed throughout last year’s Second Wind Tour, the track arrives via Atlantic Records today alongside a music video directed by Kevin Lombardo.

The song sits in familiar but resonant territory β€” the reality of trying to let go of someone while accepting that love doesn’t always fully leave you. “Some people will always live in a small part of your heart,” Seavey says, and the track carries that bittersweet honesty with a lightness of touch that keeps it from tipping into anything maudlin.

Second Wind, his 2025 debut album, introduced him as a fully formed solo artist β€” executive produced by Michael Pollack and praised by Billboard for blending infectious energy with introspective lyrics. Standout singles Sleeping With The Lights On, Gateway Drug and The Older You Get built a fanbase that showed up in numbers, with the Second Wind Tour selling out stops at The Novo in Los Angeles and Irving Plaza in New York before extending across Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Before all of that, Seavey co-founded Why Don’t We in 2016 β€” a six-year run that produced over six billion global career streams, two RIAA Platinum-certified singles, five Gold-certified singles and two Top 10 Billboard 200 albums. His 2023 solo EP Dancing In The Dark marked the beginning of his creative independence, with Rolling Stone praising his impeccable production skills and personal artistry. The solo chapter has been building steadily ever since, and Time to Time (Annie) suggests the next phase has real momentum behind it.

He’s also currently out on the road supporting Charlie Puth on the North American Whatever’s Clever! Tour, with upcoming arena stops at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on 29th April and Madison Square Garden in New York on 29th May β€” the kind of stages that do wonders for an artist on the rise.
