Multi-platinum Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy has released an extended edition of The Weight of the Woods, out now via Interscope Records. The expanded edition adds three songs that hadn’t previously been available on digital platforms, among them fan favourite ‘Stockholm’, alongside acoustic versions of the singles ‘Turnstile’ and ‘Funeral’.
The Weight of the Woods was originally released earlier this year and marked a deeply personal, assured new chapter for Kennedy, pairing his emotionally charged vocals with intimate songwriting and organic instrumentation. The folk-rooted musicality that runs through the record has become increasingly central to his sound.
The album also gave Kennedy a genuine chart milestone: it debuted at Number 1 on the UK Albums Chart, making him the first Irish solo artist ever to top the UK chart with each of his first three studio albums, following Without Fear in 2019 and Sonder in 2022. It also topped the UK’s Official Vinyl Albums Chart and Official Record Store Chart in its release week. This extended edition gives longtime fans the chance to hear tracks, including ‘Stockholm’, that had previously only surfaced live.
