Bookmakers had a field day this month tipping Oasis as early favourites to headline Glastonbury 2027, but anyone hoping for a triumphant return to Worthy Farm should probably temper their expectations. Liam Gallagher made his feelings on the matter impossible to misread, firing off a volley of posts on X that left zero room for ambiguity.
When asked directly on X if Oasis could ever grace the Pyramid Stage again, Liam offered a curt two-word verdict: “Hope not.”
The frontman’s grievance isn’t just about the music, it’s about the culture shift. Rather than leaning into the reunion hype, Gallagher trained his fire on modern festival crowds, taking aim at everything from flag-waving to the ubiquitous sight of wellies being swapped for Crocs in the Worthy Farm mud. It builds on a long-standing grudge; Gallagher has previously called Oasis’s 2004 headline slot a miserable experience due to technical monitor issues, and that memory clearly still lingers.
He isn’t the only Gallagher harboring fatigue toward the UK’s biggest festival, either. Speaking on a podcast following his 2022 solo performance with High Flying Birds, Noel Gallagher didn’t hold back on his own critiques of the event’s modern tone.
“It’s getting a bit woke now, that place, and a bit kind of preachy and a bit virtue-signalling,” Noel remarked, before adding: “Donate all your money to the cause – that’s it, stop yapping about it.”
Still, the elder Gallagher stopped short of a total boycott, admitting he still considers Glastonbury “probably the best thing about Britain apart from the Premier League.”
Whether Liam’s latest outburst counts as a permanent boycott or simply classic Gallagher bravado in response to runaway betting odds remains to be seen. Oasis has headlined Worthy Farm twice before—in 1995 and 2004, and given how unpredictably the brothers handle tour news, nothing is ever truly set in stone.
For now, though? Anyone penciling in Glastonbury 2027 on the strength of those bookie odds might want to hold off on buying their ticket just yet.
