Tāmaki Makaurau singer-songwriter Sabreen has announced her upcoming sophomore EP, Forget Me When I’m Gone, arriving on Friday 25 September. Marking the announcement is her brand-new single, “Land Mines,” out now on all streaming platforms.

Serving as an introspective sister song to her previous release “Therapy,” “Land Mines” strips back the humor to confront the heavier realities of mental health struggles, PTSD, and depression. Where “Therapy” captured the chaotic, witty side of navigating your twenties, “Land Mines” turns inward, exploring the exhausting state of living in hyper-awareness and walking on eggshells.

“‘Land Mines’ is a deeply personal song to me, peeling back the mask of ‘Therapy’ to reckon with the true cost of living with mental health struggles,” Sabreen shares.“It is intimately inspired by my own experiences of PTSD and depression, which can feel like walking through a field of land mines. It’s a song for the moments of strength no one gives you flowers for, and the battles that exhaust you to the bone that no one sees.”

At 23 years old, the Bangladeshi-Muslim singer, songwriter, and author continues to build a distinct reputation across Aotearoa’s contemporary music landscape. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Hozier, Paris Paloma, and The Beths, Sabreen’s storytelling weaves vulnerability with cultural identity, following her recent release “The End (Arabic Version)” featuring Rana Hamida.
