Award-winning Americana and indie-folk duo Ferris & Sylvester have announced details of their upcoming studio album, It’s A Joy To Be Alive, arriving 14 August 2026. Alongside the announcement, the chart-topping pair have shared their profoundly moving new single, ‘Tiny Little Love’.
The upcoming record explores the duo’s personal experiences of finding hope in life’s darkest moments, acting as an auditory embrace for listeners facing their own challenges. That raw, confessional quality is most powerful on ‘Tiny Little Love’, a track shaped by a sudden medical crisis while the band was working thousands of miles from home.
Co-vocalist Issy Ferris was 32 weeks pregnant when the duo arrived in Nashville for a brief four-day trip to play their final shows before parenthood. However, Ferris fell gravely ill, resulting in their son being born seven weeks prematurely. What was meant to be a short trip turned into a stressful, extended stay, including 19 days in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) followed by a month of local recovery.
“This song came to life in a terrifying moment,” Issy Ferris shares. “Our son was hours away from being born seven weeks early, we were thousands of miles from home touring in Nashville, and we had no idea what the future held. It was our lullaby. Just like the rest of this album, we realised that writing about hope holds a lot more meaning in the hard times. That’s where the stuff of life is.”
Despite the trauma of the premature birth, the duo also look back on the experience with immense gratitude for the local medical staff. Following their journey, Ferris & Sylvester have become official patrons for the pregnancy and baby charity Tommy’s, launching a dedicated fundraiser and donating income from their Songs That Saw Us Through EP to the cause.
Sonically, the ’70s-tinged ‘Tiny Little Love’ takes the form of a delicate, touching lullaby anchored by the pair’s signature warm vocal harmonies. The track joins previously released singles like the country-rock tracker ‘Jealous’, the garage-rock rave-up ‘5-4-3-2-1’, and the soulful Americana title track, highlighting a wide-reaching sonic eclecticism.
The upcoming collection looks primed to build upon the duo’s previous milestones, which include topping the Official Jazz & Blues Albums Chart and taking home Album of the Year at the Americana UK Awards.
