RAYE has released the official music video for ‘Joy.’, and it’s a genuine family affair. Her sisters Amma and Absolutely, who both take a verse on the track, spend the video driving around London in a van dubbed the ‘Joymobile’, handing out sunflowers to strangers and filming their real reactions rather than following a conventional performance video.
‘Joy.’ is track 15 on RAYE’s second album, This Music May Contain Hope, released in March and structured across four thematic ‘seasons’ moving from darkness toward light. The album has topped the charts in the UK, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium. Sonically, the track leans into gospel and soul over a disco groove, with pop and R&B production.
Amma and Absolutely (real names Lauren and Abby-Lynn) aren’t just video cameos, they’ve become a recurring part of the song’s life on stage, having performed it alongside RAYE at Reading Festival in August, throughout her 2026 tour, and on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
RAYE has described the song’s message plainly: ‘The message of the song is joy, so we really need to find some within us right now.’ The lyrics draw on scripture, with lines inspired by Psalm 30:5, on joy arriving after a night of weeping, and Psalm 91:4, on being sheltered under wings.
‘Joy.’ has already picked up BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2 playlist adds, with a US pop radio impact date set for 22 September.
