Myles Smith: The Rising Star Redefining UK Music

From local Luton pub gigs to stadium tours with Ed Sheeran, Myles Smith has quickly become one of the UK’s most vital new voices.

In a music landscape bursting with talent, every so often, an artist comes along who feels like a breath of fresh air. Enter Myles Smith, the British sensation who’s been taking the charts and our hearts by storm. With almost 23 million monthly listeners on Spotify and a Brit Rising Star award under his belt, Myles is proving that his journey from local pub gigs to global acclaim is only just beginning.

Born and raised in Luton, Myles’ story isn’t your typical overnight success. Influenced by his parents’ eclectic record collection, he grew up surrounded by the sounds of legends like Elton John and Tracy Chapman. But it was Ed Sheeran, another British star who started small, who truly inspired Myles to pick up a guitar and start writing his own songs.

“I remember playing my first gig at a local pub,” Myles reminisces. “There were about ten people there, and half of them were family. But that night, I realised this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”

Myles’ music is a masterful blend of acoustic soul and contemporary pop, with a hint of folk storytelling. His lyrics—intimate and raw—capture the highs and lows of life, love, and everything in between. Tracks like “Nice to Meet You” and the astronomical, billion-streaming phenomenon “Stargazing” have resonated deeply with fans, earning him a spot in the UK’s Top Ten singles chart and breaking heavily into the U.S. market.

“I want my music to feel like a conversation,” he explains. “Something that’s as personal to the listener as it is to me.”

Speaking of conversations, Myles has had plenty of them with his idol-turned-mentor, Ed Sheeran. After catching Sheeran’s attention on social media, the two connected and have since toured together, sharing stages from massive North American stadium gates to iconic arenas. “Touring with Ed has been surreal,” says Myles. “He’s taught me so much about staying grounded and putting everything into your craft.”

While his early singles solidified his status as one to watch, it is his brand-new debut studio album, My Mess, My Heart, My Life., that has completely stolen the spotlight. Lauded by critics and fans alike as an evocative, deeply honest masterpiece, the 15-track project sees Smith stepping far beyond the breezy optimism of his initial hits. Delving into raw, diary-like explorations of mental health on tracks like “Sertraline” and painful family dynamics on “Grandma’s Place,” the record even features a massive, harmony-laden collaboration with Niall Horan on “Drive Safe” and a co-write with Sheeran himself on “Dublin Lights.”

Rather than wrapping his stories up in neat, tidy bows, Smith leans directly into the emotional chaos. “Not every feeling has an answer,” he notes of the record’s vulnerable direction. The release has even translated to the screen, with Myles directing an incredibly moving short film starring Emmy-winner Stephen Graham for the standout track “Hold Me in the Dark.”

As we move through 2026, Myles shows no signs of slowing down. Fresh off a standout main-stage slot at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and international tour dates that took his acoustic storytelling all the way to New Zealand, he is currently preparing for his massive first-ever headline UK and Ireland arena tour this November.

“I’m just so grateful for everything,” Myles shares. “This past year has been a dream, and I can’t wait to see where the next chapter takes me.”
